The Future of Nourish Deliveries

We have been blown away by the number of you who have taken the time to give us such wonderful feedback from our survey, a whopping 72% of you.

It has really given us a clearer idea of how we can develop our service and make it the best it possibly can be, so thank you so much for your continued support.

To implement the changes that need to be made we are going to be pausing deliveries from Monday 14th June and resuming in our new format on Tuesday 6th July.

We would like to share with you the feedback we received and discuss our thoughts on the changes we will be making starting at the beginning of July.

So onto the feedback and our path forward...

SUMMARY OF CHANGES TO OUR SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

  • Deliveries will be paused from June 14th
  • Deliveries will recommence on 6th July
  • We will no longer be offering a Small Fruit Box
  • Boxes will be changing to a Small Organic Mix, Medium Organic Mix & Large Organic Mix with a new pricing structure
  • We will be adding on a small £1.95 delivery fee
  • We will no longer be serving the Glasgow area
  • Our delivery days will change slightly.

Question 1.

Would you prefer to know what is upcoming in the box selection? e.g We would post box contents on our website for the following two weeks.

The Changes We Will Be Making...

While some of you enjoy the mystery of seeing what's inside the box, the majority would like a heads up of what to expect.

So we have decided to try and get the best of both world's by posting on our website every Sunday what will be featuring in the following week's box, allowing time for meal planning and for us to make some suggestions for recipes etc.

And if you prefer the mystery then try your best not to peak at the website until after your delivery. This should also help with identifying some of the more unusual produce for those who don't receive our email.

Question 2.

Would you prefer to always have staples included in the boxes? e.g Bananas, Apples, Oranges in Fruit boxes and Carrots, Potatoes, Onions in Mixed Veg.

The Changes We Will Be Making...

This is a real tough one as there is a pretty even split, so let us explain our thinking...

The thing that excites us the most about making up the boxes for you is selecting the most hyper seasonal and unusual produce we can find, and while on occasion we can get beautiful Italian white onions and stunning bunched rainbow carrots, we would rather only include staple type produce when they are particularly special and not just chucking in any old onion or carrot for the sake of it to bulk up the box.

We feel now that life is slowly opening back up, people are able to get these basics pretty readily from the supermarket to supplement our boxes.

We want our selection to focus on the best of the best and going by other feedback in the survey we believe you share this ethos.

We will however create an add-on product for a staples bag in the future for those who are interested.

Question 3.

Would you be happy to receive slightly less in your box if we were able to provide more locally sourced and organic produce with full traceability of the farms from where it was grown?

The Changes We Will Be Making...

We were really interested in getting your feedback on this question as it's been playing on our mind for a while...

The aspect we have struggled with the most when choosing what goes in the boxes is striking the balance right between having enough produce that makes you feel like you are receiving value for money while still providing premium items that we find the most exciting but inevitably are the most expensive.

So we are delighted to hear that the majority of you would like to focus on more premium specialist items at the expense of receiving more bulk and quantity.

We have just recently developed a relationship with one of the U.K's Best Organic Fruit and Veg Wholesalers who work directly with small scale farms across the U.K and Europe to deliver the best varieties of seasonal produce available.

We are absolutely buzzing to be able to focus more on quality over quantity which will allow us to really deliver incredible in-season produce for you to enjoy. It will also allow us to place orders with the farmers ahead of time to minimise wastage and ensure they are receiving a fair price for their produce.

With our new direction we are going to have to make some adjustments to our product range and will no longer be able to offer the £15 Small fruit only box unfortunately as we will not be ordering as much fruit.

We realise this isn't going to suit everyone's lifestyle and completely understand if you will not be continuing to order with us as a result but we feel we need to follow our passion and do whats right for the majority of customers and our business.

We hope you will give it a go to see if you enjoy the new offering.

The Changes We Will Be Making...

Once we have tightened up our systems for delivering veg boxes we will look at introducing some meal pack options for those that have shown an interest.

Question 5.

Would you be interested in getting Organic and Biodynamic Wine Delivered?

The Changes We Will Be Making...

We will be adding a choice of a 3 or 6 bottle selection box of wines carefully curated by our resident sommelier George. We will also have a small selection of wines available online that you can add to your order when the notion takes you.

Question 6.

Would you be interested in getting Craft Beer Delivered?

The Changes We Will Be Making...

We will be adding in a 4 can craft beer selection selected by our resident bevy merchant Greg for those that are interested as well as adding a small rotating collection online which you can order whenever you wish.

Question 7.

Would you be interested in getting Pantry Essentials - Tins of Tomatoes, Pulses, Jars of Sauces etc - delivered?

The Changes We Will Be Making...

We will be making available a selection of our in-store products for home delivery which you can add on to your order whenever you like.

Question 8.

Would you be open to paying a small delivery fee to allow us to continue our service?

The Changes We Will Be Making...

This was by far the most difficult question for us to ask.

We are rather humbled that so many of you would be willing to pay a small delivery fee to enable us to continue our service.

As we touched on in the initial survey, our overheads have increased dramatically as the Nourish family has grown from just Greg and Richard in a clapped out transit. We now employee 9 staff members all on the living wage and have moved on from a spare spot at the bottom of Richard's garden to an actual shop and store room.

We have found ourselves in a tough spot where the delivery side of the business is haemorrhaging money.

For us to make the service economical without sacrificing on the quality of the boxes or the work environment for our staff we will have to introduce a flat rate delivery fee of £1.95 from July.

With supermarkets charging anywhere between £1-£7 for a delivery (and yet don't pay their staff a living wage) we hope you can understand why a tiny business like ours needs to implement this small fee.

We completely understand that this may push our service out with the budget of some of our customers, which we are extremely saddened by, but unfortunately it's critical to allowing us to continue delivering.

For those near by our shop or who would rather not pay the fee we will enable in-store collections on the day of delivery if that would suit you better.

We thank you so much for your understanding and the support you have shown us.

DELIVERY AREA CHANGES

It is with a heavy heart that unfortunately we will no longer be able to deliver to our Glasgow customers.

Our margins on our boxes are super tight so the hours lost in Glasgow traffic from our base in Ferniegair makes the route unprofitable for the business.

Hopefully at some point in the future we will be able resume the route and we thank you so much for ordering with us.

DELIVERY DAY CHANGES

We won't be receiving our organic deliveries from the farms until a Tuesday each week so will unable to deliver on a Monday.

Moving forward our delivery days will be as follows...

Tuesday - Hamilton, Larkhall, Lesmahagow

Wednesday - Bothwell, Cambuslang, East Kilbride, Uddingston

Thursday - Carluke, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Chapelhall, Motherwell, Newarthill, Law

Friday - Lanark, Braehead, Carnwath, Carstairs, Cleghorn, Forth

This will also help us avoid the issues of bank holidays messing up delivery schedules.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NEXT...

If you want to stay aboard this crazy veggie express then you don't have to do anything.

We will pause your account and swap you over to the new exciting offer next month.

If you don't think the new offer is for you then you can pop onto your account and cancel your order or drop us a wee email.

The love and support you have shown us this past year has been beyond our wildest dreams, and we truly hope you will stick with us as we improve our service.

As always...

Peace & Plants
